“The cabinet and drawers are all wonderful.  We are so happy with them and with you.  Thank you so much!”

    Marilyn L., Homeowner

“It has been such a pleasure working with Vision Woodworks.  The quality and craftsmanship of your cabinetry are exceptional.  The family room desk is both beautiful and functional.  It’s so nice to have a central location for the boys to study and do their homework.  The cabinetry and woodwork in the master bedroom and bathroom are the focal points of each room and have helped create the tranquil and soothing atmosphere we were trying to achieve.  We love it all!”

BUSY WEEK

This has been an extremely busy week for us with multiple photo shoots of recently completed jobs (stay posted for the pics!) and getting ready for our Master Builders Association speaking event on Saturday April 7th on Vashon Island. Don’t forget to check out the MBA’s website for the schedule of library speaking events happening all around this area.

COME SEE US APRIL 7th

On April 7th, Jill will be speaking at the Vashon Island Library on “Maximizing Your Space, Style and Function With Custom Cabinetry”.  This event is brought to you by the Master Builder’s Association (MBA) Speakers Bureau – of which Jill is a member of.   Mark your calendar to enjoy a ferry ride and some good ideas!  Jill spoke on this topic several times last year, and it was very well received.

The MBA is offering free classes at many libraries in the area.  Check out this schedule, and find a class that interests you.  There’s everything from interior design ideas to organization to remodeling green.

1—Cooktop:   Perhaps the island is the only place for a cooktop, or you just want a spot for a second cook.   Consider raising the back of the island to create a bar area that also keeps guests at a safe distance from the burners.

2—Dishwashers:   Conventional dishwashers with a drop-down door can take up floor space.   Consider slide-out dishwasher drawers, which conserve space, but are more expensive.

4—Sinks:  Consider either a full sink for preparation and clean-up, or a small one for rinsing veggies.

5—Storage:   Need wine storage?  Or perhaps you need extra space for appliances, open shelving for books or displays, or an open lower shelf for pet feeders.

Consider the type of legs or feet you want to add to it.  Do you want a contrasting paint or stain color?

2—Display Space: The days of storing a plant above a cabinet are over.  These days it’s all about creating nooks and open space for displaying ornate glass pieces , art, or some other collectible.  See a great example of display space here.

3—High-Quality Finish: A great finish can take a cabinet from ordinary to a real work of art.  Trends now are leaning toward a stain and glaze combination—accentuating grooves and embellishments.

5—Open Cabinetry: Many people now are opting for an open feel in their cabinetry.  This is accomplished by creating shelves instead of boxes, putting glass in cabinet doors, or simply removing the doors altogether. See an example of open cabinetry here.
